War of the Roses
Betfair
In cricket, the rivalry between Yorkshire and Lancashire, also known as The War of Roses, has been going on for centuries and has always been defined by two colours: Yorkshire’s white rose and Lancashire’s red rose.
As the official sponsor of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Betfair saw the T20 clash with Lancashire as an opportunity to bring its “Everyone’s Got an Opinion” campaign to the heart of one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries. And with England heading into the World Cup that very same week, we saw an way to give those colours a new meaning.
So we brought the two sides together to create something both counties could actually agree on: an England flag made entirely from red and white roses. Placed outside the stadium ahead of the match, the installation turned a symbol of one of England’s oldest rivalries into a shared show of support for the national team, proving that, whatever side you’re on, there’s one opinion we can all agree on: it’s coming home.
