Ensaimadart

CAN (Contemporary Art Now) is the biggest art fair in Ibiza: A place normally famous for its beaches, parties and ensaimadas (a local pastry). So to get the word out to international art lovers that this Mediterranean island is now a destination for art too, we brought some Balearic flavor to New York – literally. Coinciding with NYC Art Week – which brings together fairs like Frieze, NADA and Independent – we covered the streets of Manhattan with posters featuring a Balearic classic: ensaimadas duct-taped to white backgrounds (in a clear nod to artist Maurizio Cattelan’s viral banana). Because if there’s a place to showcase what happens in Ibiza every summer, it’s where the entire art world gathers each spring.
